What it do, Durag Nation? We just got some big
news about the highly anticipated solo game for Blade! With all the recent game cancellations and
the lack of new reveals for Marvel’s Wolverine, a lot of superhero game fans have been
hungry for any good news. Well, once again, the vampire hunter is coming in clutch.
So today on Superhero News Bits, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the latest
developments around Blade, including the expected release date — in three minutes or less.
First, Hulk smash that LIKE button to share the good news, or change it to
a dislike if the video was dog water. Marvel’s Blade is currently in development
with Arkane Studios — specifically Arkane Lyon, the makers of Dishonored and Deathloop (not to
be confused with Arkane Austin, their sister studio who were shut down after the launch of
Redfall). Unlike other upcoming superhero games, though, ever since the studio announced
Blade at The Game Awards in 2023, they’ve not been shy about sharing new stuff with fans.
After mastering 1st person with Deathloop and Dishonored, Blade will be a third-person action
game, and the studio has already teased fans with concept art multiple times, giving us an
idea of what the vampire slayer will look like in their interpretation of Paris. They didn’t
specify what platforms the game would release on, even during the announcement trailer, but Xbox is
their publisher and they’ve committed to putting their new releases on as many platforms
as possible. So, Blade is expected to launch on Xbox, PS5, Game Pass, and PC.
When exactly that launch would happen was a mystery, since the game was reportedly in
early development when the trailer dropped. But industry insider and leak god Jeff Grubb
said he expected the game to land around 2027. Well — now we have actual confirmation of when
Arkane Studios is looking to drop Marvel’s Blade. Timur222, a popular account that shares developer
updates, job postings, and sales data in the gaming industry, shared financial statements
for Arkane Lyon that revealed their development timeline for Blade. According to the documents,
after the prototype of the game was approved, Blade went into full production in late 2024 and
is expecting final approval by November 2027. This means Marvel’s Blade, assuming no
delays, will launch winter 2027 at the earliest — or sometime between January and
Summer 2028. That also means the next trailer probably isn’t happening until the 2026 Xbox
Showcase or Summer Game Fest, at the earliest. I’m personally glad to have some clarity on
the status of Blade so I can properly manage my expectations. But hey — 2026 and 2027
will still have plenty of superhero games to hold you over, because according to the
latest reports, Insomniac is about to drop new Marvel games in back-to-back years.
