We finally have an update on the Assassin’s Creed Netflix series and another Ubisoft update as well. Also, a very interesting leak regarding what’s next for the God of War studio and I share my thoughts as well. A ton of gaming news to go over. Thanks always for joining these Sunday videos. Now, sit back and let’s go. We got an update on the Netflix Assassin’s Creed series that we learned about in 2020. Ubisoft namely finally green lit an Assassed live action series with showrunners Roberto Patino who was a writer and executive producer on Westworld and created and was a showrunner of DMC. Never heard of it. Let me know if you watch it in the comments down below. It has a 5.5 on IMDbo. And David Weiner will also lead the Assass series. He’s known for Homecoming, Halo, Brave New World, and Flesh and Bone among other things. So, not much info was given in the article about what the series will be about, only that will follow characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny. Because yes, it seems like it’s going to be a true Assassins versus Templar story. Seems like we will visit multiple familiar time periods. So, maybe one episode will be in Greece, for example, or in Italy. And maybe we see the familiar game characters then, of course, too. While I think that the lead characters are likely new and made for this show, it will be about power, violence, and sex, and greed, and vengeance. Well, let’s hope it’s better than the movie, of course, because if this works out, it could be huge for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as we have seen with Fallout most recently, where the game surpassed 5 million players in one day. Cyberpunk benefited from the show as well. Arcane, of course, with League of Legends. The Witcher was one of the first. So, if they nail it, then they will benefit from it a lot. But yeah, with them just greenlighting it, I am expecting a 2027 date at the earliest. It might be even later. Of course, let me know what you hope from this Assass show in the comments down below. Even though CD Project Red said that they would stop supporting Cyberpunk, they launched a new update 2.3 this week that adds some pretty interesting things as they want to make the world feel more collected and alive. And one way to do that is by adding the Delmain taxi service if you completed the side quest. So you can then summon a car and go to a destination for a small fee and even have Johnny join you as well. They also added auto drive for your own vehicles when you are on a road that can also take you to any destination including your quest objectives. They added some new vehicles with missions to get them. More paint jobs with almost all the cars now being customizable. And what you can now also do is steal a paint job and have them then appear on your own vehicle, which kind of awesome. They also added new photo mode features like time of day and weather changes and frame skip so you can get the best action shots. And this update is being developed by Virtuous Game, a studio CDPR is hiring to improve Cyberpunk without it hurting the process they make on their own big titles, The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel, which a very interesting approach. I don’t think we know if this like really the final update, but they can of course change their mind at any moment. The update is now out on current gen consoles and PC and coming later to Switch 2. Let me know if you will check it out in the comments. Okay, now let’s go over that Ubisoft update, that huge interesting Santa Monica leak and what it means. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on that as well. Of course, leave a like. That would really help me out and subscribe because we post one of these big gaming news round of videos every Sunday. Okay, time for quick shots new stories. I will go over quickly with a Ubisoft update as it’s quite the transformational year for them. Not really front-facing stuff, but mostly major changes behind the scenes. In March, they namely announced that Tencent would invest $1.25 billion to get a 25% stake in a new Ubisoft subsidiary focused on Assass Far Cry and Rainbow 6. And we now learned that Eve Gimmo’s son Charlie Gimmo is the co-CEO of this new 10-centent backed subsidiary. Now, I do think it makes sense that Kristoff Dur, who’s the founder and head of Ubisoft Montreal, who has been at the company more than 35 years, is also co-CEO of this new organization. Like, he has a ton of experience also working on the three franchises they are focused on. He will make sure that the current projects and the road maps stay on course. But it’s of course not a great look for Eve to have his son who left in 2021 to start a web 3 company now suddenly is back at Ubisoft and immediately becomes the co-CEO to oversee their most important franchises. Like that’s a gut punch to other hardworking Ubisoft employees. And this, by the way, happened before because right out of college, Charlie Gimma immediately got to run his own mobile studio inside Ubisoft. They made Tom Clansy’s Elite Squad and used Black Lives Matter imagery in relation to a terrorist group in the game and of course faced a lot of backlash. Like, you want Ubisoft to show that they really care about putting the right people in the right spots for everyone at the company to succeed. And sure, Charlie totally has some experience, but I find it hard to believe that there was not someone else at Ubisoft who would have been a better fit to be co-CEO of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow 6. We’ll of course follow everything here. We should hear more about this subsidiary and the changes for Ubisoft by the end of September. Now, before we move to the big rumor roundup about that secret Cory Barlo game, I want to throw some Bethesa rumors together in this section. So, it seems that Machine Games is actually making a sequel for Indiana Jones. The game did, of course, pretty well, especially on the critical side. Still in my backlog. I want to try it. And the DLC is coming, of course, on September 4th. So, yeah, kind of makes sense that they will use those assets again and get a sequel out ASAP. We also heard from Jess Gordon from Windows Central that The Elder Scrolls 6 is quite playable and that he actually heard that it would show up at the Xbox showcase. Now, of course, that did not happen. My speculation maybe it was planned as the final game instead of Call of Duty as that seemed like a really weird pick, right? Showcasing Black Ops 7. Either way, I think we have to wait a little longer for Elder Scrolls 6. In August 2023, we learned that the game was out of pre-production, so still super early and that we should not expect to hear more about it for years. So, 2025 always seemed too early. I think they want to get it out in 2027, but it will likely be later. Starfield was also planned for 2021 but of course ended up in 2023. So these huge games just take of course a ton of time and Fallout 5 has seemingly been green lit although when we will see that is of course a mystery likely the team that is working on El Scroll 6 will work on it after that game is out. Now we also learned that multiple Fallout games are in production. I’m mostly curious if they will do more of a splash around the second season of the TV show at the end of the year. The Fallout 3 rumored remaster would of course be huge. We do know that there will be a really big Fallout 76 expansion around that time though, but that would not really interest me. Of course, Cursy are your thoughts on these Bethesda updates. Seems like they’re focusing on their biggest franchise, which makes sense. I’m mostly curious to see Blade though from the Dishonored developer. Now, time for the rumor roundup where I look at the biggest rumors of the week and give stars with three being I believe it and one being let’s take this with a huge grain of salt. So, it’s a pretty big one because we learned some crucial details about the next project from Corey Barlo, the director on God of War 2018, who did not direct Ragnarok, only helped with that game because he was working on something else that we first all thought was a new IP. Well, now Jason Strier on Reset Era notes that I will put it this way, it’s not a new IP, but it might feel like one. Okay. Okay. He also notes that the sci-fi stuff that people have apparently believed for years now is nonsense. People thought this because Cory changed his Twitter banner to something space related at one point and was also tweeting weird things like this, but this was likely just a troll. Another thing Jason notes is that he can confirm that Ash Hong knows what they are talking about. And what Ash is saying is that it’s not a licensed IP like a Marvel or Star Wars type of game. Okay, first of all, three stars. So, I totally think this legit as Jason of course has been right countless of times. But what does it mean then? Well, I think there are two possibilities. One, they are reinventing an old Sony IP similar to what Cory did with God of War. So, basically remaking it for a modern audience. But another possibility is, and this the one that I’m leaning more towards to is that Cory is making a God of War type of game, but in a different mythology and with brand new characters. God of War, no kidding, is the biggest thing that Sony has right now. It sells the most. They own everything about it, so they don’t have to pay Marvel, for example, for licensing. Ragnarok sold 15 million one year after launch, which the most a Sony sequel, like one of the newer sequels, has sold. So, that’s an insane amount of profit. So, obviously, they want to continue the franchise. I don’t think this means the end of Kratos. But what if Cory makes a God of X, something else, like a completely new spin-off in the same series? So why we thought Cory was making a new IP is because he wanted to do that. He noted that in an interview with Skill Up in his car after the release of God of War 2018. He wanted to make something that was his own. So we all thought it would be a new IP. but creating brand new characters, exploring a new mythology, introducing new gameplay elements that should still make it all feel new while putting the God of War type label on it makes it more financially realistic for Sony. Next to that, we know that Cory gave Eric Williams, the actual director on Ragnarok, three things that had to happen in the game. He was still heavily involved in the story, and maybe that was because of some sort of potential crossover with his own project. I also remember Eric Williams saying that he would be fine if Santa Monica was just a God of War studio. Let me know if you, by the way, know where he said it. I think it was one of the spoiler cast. I could not find it. I did look for it. Either way, I think Sony would not mind if Santa Monica was a God of War type studio either, but making a completely new spin-off expands the franchise. I I think that makes sense. But of course, your input more than welcome. Interesting stuff nevertheless. Maybe we see it at the game awards this year. We’ll of course keep you posted here. This coming week, Wu Chong Fallen Feathers will launch. It will also be out on Game Pass and we will have tips and tricks for it. So stay tuned if you are planning to play that game. There’s also a chance to play Warewinds Meet as it’s doing one final test before release. You can sign up by the link I put in the video description. It’s on PS5 and Steam. Let me know if you’re going to try it and if you tried it next week in the comments or reach out through social media. I’m curious to hear your thoughts. I’m also expecting news on what’s next for Assassin Shadows as we’re now waiting an extra long time for the next patch. So, when we have info, I’ll of course let you know here on the channel. We will likely talk more about Ghost of Yote this week. Dennis will be going to China to play Phantom Blade Zero. Yes. Yes. So, more on that game very soon. Exciting stuff all around. We’ll of course do my Monday stream, a link in the video description where we discuss the gaming news in more depth, of course. Hope to see you there. A like on the video would really help me out and I will speak to you very soon.
