sony is gonna buy who they also delayed a big game we got Witcher 4 Prince of Persia updates and way way more gaming news to go over so sit back thanks as always for joining these Sunday videos and let’s go i want to change it up this week as I want to put the rumor roundup at the front in this segment I look at the biggest leaks and rumors of the week and give stars with three being I believe it and one being let’s take this with a huge grain of salt like what we know for a fact is that Warner Brothers Discovery is going to split into two companies by the middle of 2026 so on the left we see the network company so this will mostly have the old school cable networks while on the right side we see the streaming and studios company and this is where their movie studios HBO and their gaming business among other things are included they also noted that in terms of gaming they will now focus on four franchises harry Potter Game of Thrones Mortal Kombat and the DC games so that is all confirmed information but the rumor now is that Sony is reportedly interested in buying the Warner Brothers games assets and also HBO and the Warner IPs now that would of course be a huge acquisition like on the gaming side having the potential next Batman game exclusive on your platform just like Hogwarts Legacy 2 and the multiplayer title like that would be huge and will help them make the PlayStation a more appealing console in the future as well because really with Microsoft now going full third party and also for the Xbox wanting to enable other storefronts to get on their platform the PlayStation will look way less appealing because you only have the PlayStation store where Sony controls everything if you have Steam on Xbox then yeah I think the competition basically in the future is going to be very interesting so Sony does need more exclusives to lure people to the PlayStation console but of course Sony is also huge in other entertainment like movies they’ve been adapting a lot of their IPs into TV shows and movies but they don’t own their own big streaming service so HBO would be huge for them and they of course showed that they have interest in the streaming business by buying Crunchyroll not to mention owning the Batman IP would of course be huge but that’s like running all this down it just sounds too crazy so I’m gonna give this one star also because the source SE scoops sure has scoops but mostly for the wrestling world they’re not really proven elsewhere now it would be a huge power move by Sony and again great at cementing their future in the entertainment space and Warner spinning into two companies makes them more appealing for an acquisition the report namely also notes that Sony was already interested but did not want all the cable stuff so that’s why this new spin-off is way more interesting to them curious to hear what you think of this rumor in the comments down below wanted to share it again I don’t believe that this will happen but when we hear more about it when we have more sources maybe reporting on it I’ll of course let you know here portlands 4 is not $80 but $70 maybe you remember the weird back and forth with the Gearbox CEO about the price of the game he did not want to confirm nor deny that they were going to increase the price so then everyone was like “Okay they’re going to do it because otherwise it would just say that it was 70 right?” Well maybe that whole debacle made them lower the price to 70 although it’s kind of hard to say but this week we also learned about more expensive editions that seem to already hint at a very big post-launch plan so just like Borderlands 3 they will do a lot of free content that I still think for that game is extremely underrated that Halloween event and basically new raids they added for free were a ton of fun so we have no concrete info on what the free support will look like but we do know what the paid content will be they will namely bring back the head hunter pack from Borderlands 2 that were all based on realworld holidays like winter but with weird funny twist so no idea if it will be the holiday thing in Borderlands 4 as well will likely be something different and they’re now called bounty pack but it will still include new areas missions and a unique boss but the highlight and something that was missing from Bordlands 3 is that post launch they will add two extra fault hunters to the game they will be part of the fault hunter pack in the super deluxe edition or you can of course get these packs separately as well this pack also includes new map regions and missions but yeah cool that they’re adding more characters post launch the previews have been very positive claiming that while the new movement additions take some time to get used to they totally add a lot to the game and the open world and secrets including special bosses you can find have been praised too it should feel really great to not just follow a more linear path but also have the freedom to say “Oh I now want to check this corner of the map or go all the way there and maybe find some cool loot.” I think the possibilities sound awesome and as an open world fan it sounds appealing to me there has been a lot of discussion about the lack of a mini map though but instead the reliance on a compass that can become cluttered well Gearbox has already noted that the compass has been improved for launch and they also added a mini map for combat so we at least know where the enemies are they are listening and very responsive i’m not blown away by the game yet but it does seem like a solid Borderlands and some cool improvements let me know your hype level for Borderlands 4 in the comments down below i’m very curious we got more gaming news i want to look at what’s coming this coming week it’s pretty interesting and a way way more of course leave a like that would really help me out and subscribe because we post one of these big gaming news channel videos every Sunday time for quick shots new stories I want to go over quickly starting with a small update on The Witcher 4 cd Project Red is namely taking a different approach by putting consoles first this time instead of PC you see the reason right here yes the poor console launch of Cyberpunk 2077 of course caused the game to be removed from the PlayStation store which still insane to think about because it hasn’t happened to a major title since of course the fact that the game now runs on Unreal Engine 5 instead of CDPR’s own engine will already help but they know that the real issue was that they were like working on this PC version and then tried to scale that down to the way less powerful consoles by making sure the game runs on the lower spec consoles first they can then improve things for higherend PCs as you likely know the tech demo was running on 60 fps on a base PS5 which is the target for that platform and for Series X although it will be extremely challenging on Series SDPR nodes and I’m not sure why that comes as a surprise as to my knowledge but correct me if I’m wrong there are very few games that have a 60 fps on the Series S now we of course have to wait and see what the technical state of The Witcher 4 will be before release i believe they’ve learned from their mistakes looking at what Cyberpunk changed into but of course time will tell 2027 is likely when we see The Witcher 4 tom Anderson was generous this week to give a small update on The Prince of Persia Sense of Time remake games industry namely posted that Ubisoft says that they are still deep in development of the remake to which I responded “Well they announced during their investor call recently that it would launch before April 2026 so obviously they’re still deep in development.” To which Tom Henderson responded that it enters internal alpha this month so yes we’re actually getting closer to that release maybe the re-reveal is at Gamescom in August already because of course the trailer you’re seeing here is from that previous reveal i really expect the remake to look much better when we finally see it again hopefully they can do it justice i’ll of course keep you posted here and well the Sense of Time remake might actually launch before Marathon as we this week learned that Bungie delayed the game indefinitely yes no new release date was given although Sony did recently state that the game would still launch in their current financial year so before April 2026 i think it really depends on the feedback that they get from the many tests that they will continue to do though if they can still make big improvements with extra months I do think they will do that but yeah the bottom line is Marathon did not wow people there was no hook beyond the regular extraction shooter mechanics it also did not help that around the same time as the reveal in Alpha Arc Raiders was doing their test as well that got way more attention marathon was missing key features that make an extraction shooter like this fun and well they seem to be aware of that and in a blog post they note that they have some immediate focus areas the highlights include more challenging AI encounters and more rewarding runs thanks to better loot they want to go for a more darker tone also with more narrative in the world and proximity chat is also something that they likely will now have at launch which of course a key pillar from the extraction shooter genre i think this game can be saved because it’s still Bungie they have many eyeballs but that initial launch has to be really really good it will be super important and I’m curious how much Sony is willing to invest to get this game to the place it needs to be i think they have to see it through though with how knees deep they are into Bungie especially after purchasing them and if Marathon is success they can benefit from it for years to come but right now they have a lot of work to do but yeah delaying is certainly the right move let me know if you think Marathon has a chance in the comments down below this coming week Dev Stranding 2 will release the first big PS5 exclusive since Astrobot which crazy to think about reviews are already dropping on Monday i will share my thoughts after playing the game as well this week so stay tuned for that capcom will hold the showcase on June 26th focused
