So, while there is tending to be a lot of bad news lately around Xbox, there’s also some good news and some what I found to be quite interesting news. And mainly the reason why I find it to be interesting is because we have a very interesting situation where uh you know we get to see sort some of the inner workings from Microsoft and how these things are kind of working um for the gamers and things like that. And and you know again it’s nice to see stuff like this because it goes to show that you know Microsoft isn’t just going ahead and give up uh the way that people uh maybe think including myself. You know it’s easy to sit there and go oh well is Microsoft giving up? Is Microsoft doing this? Is Microsoft doing that? I feel like this is something that at the end of the day uh it’s good to see from Microsoft and nice to see some interesting uh you know announcements that that they can actually benefit the gamer uh for a change you know cuz so often Microsoft really seems like they’re only just about themselves which is you know super unfortunate at the end of the day. But I do want to get into this. What’s up everybody? I’m Crap Gamer. This is Crap Gamer Reviews with another video. Thank you so much for checking it out. I appreciate it. Please like, share, subscribe. I would appreciate that as well. Uh it helps out the channel. Means a lot to me. Personally, I I do daily gaming content. So, if you guys are interested in that, uh please just go ahead and like the video. Uh if you like fun yet informative game talk, hey, you found it. Uh I try to do my absolute best uh with this stuff. So, yeah, you know, I try to keep at it. Uh with that being said, I did find this to be an extremely interesting uh bit of information to kind of come out and you know, we often see stuff like this that leaks out a bit. uh for the simple fact that um you know at the end of the day uh we have a situation where people are you know moving jobs and then they post their resumes and things like that. Um you know so to me this this is always an interesting situation. So uh let’s get into it. Uh so it looks like we get an idea of what Microsoft spends on Game Pass per game um per partnerships and it could be quite a lot of money and I think this has to go in a lot of ways why people were talking about hey Microsoft do they actually make money through game pass you know I know a lot of people go well who cares and I get that kind of mindset right if you’re a consumer hey game pass is a good thing let Microsoft figure it out but I also think you have to think of the world around that right you can’t just be like okay well I live in this little bubble and who cares what happens everywhere else outside the bubble So, I think, you know, the industry needs to care somewhat. You know what I mean? This whole like who cares attitude is really kind of crappy, but Microsoft’s own first party titles are a big draw with Game Pass, uh, particularly these days with so many studios under its belt. But it’s not to say that big partnerships with third parties aren’t also needed. In fact, some of these partnerships are pretty huge in of themselves with deals going all the way up to $50 million to get certain party uh certain games onto the service. Um, after unfortunately losing their job in Microsoft’s latest round of layoffs, former business development manager at Xbox, Ian uh McIntyre, uh, has updated their LinkedIn page with details on his particular job role, revealing some interesting figures about Xbox’s third party game pass strategy. Uh McIntyre says that they had that he’s negotiated 500 plus deals ranging from $50,000 to over $50 million to get indie hits and AAA titles for Game Pass. McIntyre doesn’t detail how Microsoft spends all of that money and the exact nature of what these deals are, but clearly the company has spent a lot of money securing content for Game Pass over the years. See, this is very interesting cuz I think we knew like didn’t they get like that Guardians of the Galaxy game or that Avengers game and it came out that it was like 15 18 million. And I’m very curious to hear, you know, what possible game would have got 50 million to be in there. I’m just kind of wondering about that a little bit. But you know what’s so odd to me is this. Microsoft has no problem spending $50 million to get a game into Game Pass, but they won’t spend any money to market Xbox or Game Pass or any of that stuff. It’s like, you know, was so crazy to me, uh, going back cuz I always follow these different accounts on like Instagram and X and things like that and they’re like very nostalgic gaming accounts and they show like recently I saw this one where it’s like, you know, Xbox 360, remember? Um, some of you might remember that when that launched they had this big thing at MTV where they showed it off. They had the hanger uh thing that was like it was that was all over the place. TV shows, you know, movies advertisement. There was everywhere. Xbox, Xbox, Xbox, right? and now you have none of that and of course Xbox is selling like crap. So, you know, we kind of have um that to kind of look into it. But yeah, you know, it’s interesting to see that. Obviously, we’ve heard in the past that some Game Pass partnerships are more straightforward deals while in other instances Microsoft will actually fund the game uh with it then launching day one into the service. So, it’d be easy to assume that some of the bigger deals include actual development funding from Xbox, but ultimately we don’t know the exact makeup of these partnerships and probably never will. Anyway, this is an interesting tidbit that we don’t often hear about with in regards to sales figures. Um, also he mentions it’s interesting to kind of see that he mentions that there’s 30 million uh plus Game Pass members, which again um is uh pretty much about on par. You know, it’s been pretty stagnant in the past. But if I were to say guess what would be maybe 50 million. Uh you could maybe look at something like the new Ninja Guiden that’s coming out. Uh Microsoft apparently is funding that. They’re publishing that. Uh that could be a big uh thing. Uh you know, so who knows uh what they’re going to do with that cuz that’s not a first-p partyy game. You know, I know that that’s going to be like um a lot of people look at that and go, “Okay, well uh that’s interesting or whatever.” But um honestly, Microsoft is is kind of paying for that. So, I guess we’ll see how, you know, uh, this kind of stuff, uh, kind of works out. So, you know, again, it’s really on to Microsoft, but it is nice to see that Microsoft is still investing into the um the the Game Pass uh situation and, you know, they’re still doing these things that that people uh definitely want to see, you know, and I think, you know, getting a lot of these big third party games and stuff uh definitely helps out, you know, because again, it’s not that I don’t like the the Xbox first party stuff, but Xbox tends to have um you know, some average to below average uh games in terms of their first party, you know, and that’s just that’s just the way it is. I know that that is, man, maybe some of that could be management, some of it could just be bad luck, but you know, at the end of the day, I do feel like it’s just a really bad situation because so many people look at Xbox as just like this kind of average thing and then they look at Game Pass as sort of this weird um situation where uh we have, you know, um watered down games and watered down things because, you know, Game Pass is something that would be hard to recoup money on like you maybe want to like try to cheap out a little bit. Um, and you know, we’ll see if that’s something that actually does continue to happen. I mean, I would have thought that you would have to increase the the standard and things like that for Game Pass games because you want people to subscribe and you want people to buy like otherware other places because if you’re sitting there going to, you know, put put your games on these other places and in these other markets, um, you’re going to need good quality games, you know, and it’s just like there is there is this weird golf in difference between the quality of games on Xbox versus like the quality of first party games the PlayStation. And I’m not trying to be a fanboy cuz I’m not a PlayStation guy, right? I haven’t even turned mine on this year, my PlayStation, but it’s like um when you look at things and you kind of look at how play, you know, when you play God of War 2018 for the first time or the first Spider-Man game or Ghost of Sushima or whatever the case may be, you’re just like in awe of these things, how well put together they are, and you know, just how amazing they are versus um when you, you know, place even something on Xbox that’s supposed to be well put together, it’s usually not of that quality and that standard and that’s pretty evident. So, you know, at the end of the day, Microsoft does have to continue to crank out um some games and things like that that that are going to blow people away. And, you know, that’s what hopefully they’re going to be able to do uh before too long. You know, I think that, you know, gamers are are kind of fickle, but they also forgive easily. And, you know, at the end of the day, uh we could see all kinds of stuff come out, you know, in the future. and and I hope um that you know that we see a lot of things from Microsoft that shows that they still are invested in the console and you know that they’re still interested in doing the things that um you know get people excited overall. You know that would be you know pretty excellent in my opinion. So um I would love to see that. you know, like I said, uh maybe Microsoft is is going to be able to do something to um you know, ensure people that their games are going to be safe, that they’re interested in hardware, that all these things are true. Um I would hope that that’s the case because, you know, we spend all this money on these consoles and things and, you know, at the end of the day, it just feels like sometimes they take a crap on that. Um but yeah, you know, the fact that they’re still heavily invested in Game Pass and and the fact that majority of people who get into Game Pass are on a console. Yeah, I think that is good news. Uh that they’re still willing to invest in that. Like I don’t know. To me, I feel like Game Pass is great, but I also asked a bigger question. I think that Microsoft regrets doing the day one games like behind the scenes. Uh it’s a super expensive endeavor and you could and it’s basically cost them all the sales on their own consoles um by doing that and probably even some on PC. So um we’ll see how that kind of works out in the future. What do you guys think about this though? Were you guys surprised that they spent 50 million on a game before on Game Pass? It’s kind of crazy. Um maybe that’ll change now that this guy got laid off or whatever, but we’ll have to wait and see. Let me know in the comments below. Rack them up. Fact them up. Crap gamer him up. I’ll catch you next time. Crep gamer out.
