The temperature has started to cool down a little bit in the UK, so I’m going to try and get back into recording more regular VR gameplay videos. And we’re kicking things off today with The Warp SISO. Now, this is an upcoming built for VR sci-fi horror game. I think it’s just coming to PC VR. Not sure about PSVR 2 or Quest. And it looks heavily inspired by Event Horizon, Dead Space, The Thing, uh, Kalisto Protocol. And it feels like there’s a lot of VR games recently that have a bit of like a Dead Space slant to them. We’ve got Memorial later this year. We had By Grit Alone, which was a bit Dead Spacey. There was another one that I’m definitely forgetting. I don’t know. Feels like we’re getting lots of kind of Dead Space style games. Uh, pull to begin. Yeah. All right. Oh, cool. Now, immediately I can’t do Oh, I can point. Can’t do a thumbs up. So, the game loses points cuz I like to be able to do a thumbs up in VR. I can point and I can do this and I can do like a little I can do one of those. Everything’s AO bloody K, mate. That is fan dabby dozy. I also have a um a helmet. Uh, I don’t know how it’s going to be captured on screen for you, but but I have a helmet, so I can see the the bounds of my helmet. There’s a bit here, and there’s a bit here. So, my my field of view is a bit restricted, which I I think is quite cool. Um, yeah, approaching for so long. Okay, for the umbilical to finish connecting the umbilical cord. For what it’s worth, I understand why you’re doing this. If it was someone I loved, I’d be doing the same thing, too. Dead space. The contagion spread lost, but not everywhere is lost. There’s still clean air pockets on board. Like, if Jenny’s alive, what’s this? She’s hiding in one of those. Oh, right. Um, we’ve even got this kind of uh zerog area as we walk towards the ship, which is very reminiscent of walking towards the Ishimura in the original Dead Space. Do I have a sprint? Okay, I do have a sprint. Nice to hear that the um voice work isn’t AI. That was clearly a person speaking. A lot of smaller devs kind of opting to use AI voices now. And yeah, I get it. There’s a budget budgetary constraint, but I don’t really like AI voices. They kind of just don’t do anything for me. Do I have a weapon, by the way? Oh, yeah. Got a big fat gun. You’re in the grand entrance hall. Okay, we need to reach the next deck and cut through the market. Right. Our first target is the crew deck. It’s the closest one of the five possible zones. Um, so this is available on Steam right now. And I and I am running everything maxed out, but my PC should be able to handle a game that kind of looks the way this game does. It’s not it’s not the most high res, high texture, high quality game. It is very much an indie game. Um, but yeah, I am noticing some frame drops occasionally. The ship’s in partial lockdown. Sequence never finished. Some doors are going to need manual overrides. Power. Is that all the information you got from me, mate? Doors. Oh, okay. That’s fine. My markers moved over there. Don’t know how spooky this is going to be. It like atmospheric for sure. Like immediately like in here. You probably won’t hear on the on the video, but there’s just a really kind of a low den and then just dripping dripping water. Oh, it’s actually quite unnerving. Yeah, it’s very quiet. It’s very very quiet, but yeah, just dripping just dripping water. Uh, am I going in? What is that? Well, that looks like something I can plug my my stretchy thing into. Can I plug into you? Loading whilst in elevators, right? Hiding the loading. Genius. Pure genius. Oh. Oh, this looks nicer. Chinese and Korean street food with authentic Earth ingredients harvested before the first uncontaminated zone through the market. Then down via the security elevators. That’s floating. Hold up. So many VR games like you struggle to get up the top of the ladder. Not in this one. Uh oh. Can we grab these? Oh, that’s cool. Okay. Is that enough? Yeah, that was pretty cool. Jumping down this elevator shaft. Don’t like that. Uhhuh. Okay. Feeling a bit spooky now. Not going to lie. Feeling a little tiny bit spooky. Uh hello. It’s It’s super quiet. I kind of Oh, I caught like a bit of like a smoke cloud in the air there with my torch. Yeah, look, that’s nice. That’s a nice effect. They’re not everywhere, but you get these particles in the air. It’s an odd one. It kind of looks really indie um and a bit low res, but also quite nice, like quite stylized. Reminds me of a lot of kind of flat uh indie horror games I’ve played. Kind of almost has a pixelated look to it. Um kind of a retro Wow, mate. I’m not liking the noises. Okay, this is quite cool. Hopefully, it doesn’t all fall apart in a minute. I haven’t even shot this gun yet. Hopefully, it feels nice to shoot. Where am I? I’m in some kind of I’m in some kind of shopping thing. Shopping center. Shop. Mart. Walmart. Um, this way. This way. A long way to make this feel more scary cuz I do feel like I have quite a restricted field of view. It feels like I’m kind of boxed in, which is um certainly a choice. Offline. Do this as well. Yeah. So, they’re going to like morph and change a little bit like um Dead Space, I guess. Um and The Thing and you know, all those things I said that this is clearly inspired by, right? Um I think the game just needs a little bit of [ __ ] off. Little bit of work in terms of performance cuz I am noticing frame drops like going into new areas and sometimes just just spinning on the spot just turning around. So yeah, performance not super great. Oh, good lord. No, you can suck my dick. Um, I haven’t even tried to hold this gun with two hands. Oh god. I’ll take a minute to stop [ __ ] myself. Okay. I will say that. Like you can’t like push stuff around. It’s not going to interact with you. You’re going to clip through it. Um, which is a shame. Um, like to see a little bit more interactivity. And I’m getting that kind of performance drop again there. Don’t know if that will translate on the footage. You might you might see that it just goes a bit jerky. But I love this stuff. This stuff’s bloody horrible, which is my favorite kind of art asset in any game. The bloody horrible ones are the best. Um. Oh. Hello, sir. How you doing? You’re all right. I think it has potential for sure. It there are elements that are very janky. Um I noticed at the end there those kind of weird creatures that were chasing me, they all had the same animations. That’s what one thing I I kind of pulls me out of an of a VR game or any game really is when you’ve got a set group of enemies and they’re all walking at you with the same walking animation in the same pattern in the same sequence. And I get it. Creating kind of different animations for each of them is difficult. But having one scurry and then stop at different times and move in different ways and it goes a long way to kind of increasing fear factor cuz that was a bit scary cuz it’s the first time I’ve encountered them. But every other time after that I’m going to be like, “Oh, here they come again with their stomp be stomp be stomp be bang you’re dead.” Um atmosphere great. very much clearly a riff on Dead Space. I see that event horizon. I get it. Very grimy, very very kind of um Cronin Bergian with the with the weird creatures exploding everywhere. It feels like performance needs a little bit of a little bit of polish. Um but yeah, it’s it’s not bad for an for an indie for an indie title. I think it’s a smaller team. I think this team actually specialize in making room scale VR experiences. They do kind of like the ones you have to go to go to places and and play on these kind of room scale things. I think that’s what they do. This is a home experience that they’re building. I don’t know if it’s their first, but but yeah, it’s cool. Has potential. Does still need work. Would like to see the visuals kind of get a little bit of an upgrade, but performance needs to be fixed first before you start making things prettier, cuz that’s just going to impact performance more. And yeah, I’d like to see more varied movement and kind of patterns for the for the critters. But otherwise, there’s there could be something here. Right. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed.
